We are proud of our relationship with our Church, St. Mary's Sulhamstead Abbotts. We have built a meaningful connection St.Mary's to enrich our community engagement, support pupil wellbeing and foster our shared values.

Sulhamstead & Ufton Nervet School-Church Partnerships

  • Assemblies and Services: We regularly walk to the church for whole school services throughout the year. These include: Acorn's visit day to marks the start of their journey with St. Mary's and our school, Autumn Harvest Festival, Remembrance Service (held at The Spire), Christingle, Christmas Carol service, Easter Service and our Year 6 Leaver's service.

Canon John also holds regular collective Worship in our school.
  •  Pastoral Support: Church staff or volunteers might offer chaplaincy services, mentoring, or emotional support for pupils.
  • Shared Facilities: We use St. Marys' church buildings for events such as our Year 6 Retreat Day.

  • Volunteering and Outreach: Church members volunteer in our school to listen to children read across the school and for our Explorers Club which runs weekly after school.

  • Faith Education: Canon John often visits classes to enhance the religion and World Views learning happening in school, bringing Christianity alive for our pupils.

  • Community Projects: We have joint initiatives like food banks, toy appeals or Christingle collections for the Children's Society for example. We also welcome visiting Christian groups who regularly run workshops for classes, primarily in KS2.

  • Visitors of faith: We welcome visitors from all faiths to bring Religion and World Views alive for all our children.

We encourage all our children to flourish spiritually, each child feeling valued and enjoying our special place in the heart of the community.
