Curriculum Enhancement
At Sulhamstead & Ufton Nervet CE Primary School we value all opportunities to enhance our already exciting curriculum. We find creative ways of weaving these opportunities into our learning time including whole school, key stage, class and group visits, visitors, extra curricular clubs in the school day and after school, local visits, residential trips (in Sycamore Class) and curriculum or focussed learning days to name but a few.
We know the value these have to bring children's learning to life but we are also very aware of the financial constraints and pressures that families are currently under and so do everything we can to limit the impact. Please do speak to us and we shall do everything we can to support your child and family. We work closely with the William Bishop Trust who support all children who are being or have been taught at S.U.N.
They are able to provide financial assistance for the furtherance of your child's education, please do follow the link for more information on how they can help and the application process.
Here are just some of the enhancements we have enjoyed recently:
Acorn class: Monthly Forest Skills at Ufton Court, Visit to Bournemouth Aquarium,
Oak Class: Visit to Bournemouth Beach, Monthly Forest Skills at Ufton Court, Visit from a Sikh children's author, Punch & Judy Show, Oxford Story Museum
Ash Class: River Kennet Geography field visit, Ufton Court Saxon Day,
Sycamore Class: Baylab Science laboratory visit, World War 2 enhancement Day, annual residential visit to Calshot, Hampshire,
Whole School: Annual choir performance at The Hexagon, visiting pantomime, Watermill Theatre visit, bi-annual Careers Fair held in school, whole school progressive Life Skills curriculum...
Ufton Court
We have strong links with Ufton Court who 'aim to contribute to and sustain positive change, navigating the intricate layers of each child’s growth and development in a holistic manner. This theory of change outlines the pathways through which Ufton’s programmes and activities lead to positive outcomes, aligning with our mission, vision and core values'.
We regularly visit Ufton Court, walking through the beautiful West Berkshire countryside to make use of their incredible facilities; Acorn and Oak Class visit monthly to enhance their Forest Skills and other classes across the school take part in curriculum enhancement for a range of topic learning days.
