Acorn Class
Welcome to Acorn Class!
In Acorns, we aim to provide a safe and stimulating environment for all learners. We run continuous provision (those activities that are in place all the time, e.g role play, sand, water.) and enhance these activities according to our topics and our current children's interests. We give the children time and space to play indoors and outdoors and encourage exploration, collaboration and risk taking. We hope to inspire curiosity and build independence and resilience. Our warm and supportive staff put the children's well being at the heart of our class. Have a look at our learning!

Class Routines
We begin our learning as soon as we enter the classroom, and the children are expected to hang up their own things and unpack their bags. Then we have a morning challenge before register and planning time. Maths is followed by independent learning in the provision, we have snack at 10.30 and more independent learning before Phonics which is just before lunch. Drawing club is added to our morning once children have settled in. After lunch, we have handwriting, and reading practice sessions followed by other subjects in guided sessions depending on the day of the week. At the end of the day we have a snack and a story.

Home Learning
Each week you will receive a phonics sheet in your child's book bag, this will also be added to Teams and Tapestry. On Teams and Tapestry Mrs Wade will also provide practical Maths activities for you to continue your children's maths at home. Children in Acorn class are expected to read their school reading book as often as possible, and practice tricky words, which will be added to their home school book once they have been taught in school.
